Designed with Our Guests in Mind
When Carolyn and Steve designed Two Eagles Lodge, they had never stayed in a B&B. Simply put, they designed and built “what we would want if we stayed in a B&B.”
Carolyn says the reason they had never stayed at a B&B is the fear that they would be welcomed by an empty-nester who simply turned an extra bedroom into a guest room. The lack of privacy and sense of “invading the owner’s life” was unappealing to the couple, and it is what inspired their design—a design that offers great privacy yet lots of common space for socializing.
Two Eagles, which offers a “B&B wing” that is connected to the home by a “guest lounge and kitchenette,” was designed by the couple, and built by Steve. Yes, Steve did all the construction—from the foundation and framing (with a couple friends) to all of the trim, painting, flooring, and so much more.
The layout of the B&B wing features two ground-floor B&B rooms with king pillow-top / posturpedic beds, private baths, private entrances. Each has a television and DVD player, hair dryer, a bath tub/shower, and toiletries provided for your convenience. An ironing board is also available. (see our walk-thru video)
The guest kitchenette offers a large toaster oven, microwave, full-size refrigerator, and cooking/dining essentials so you don’t have to eat every meal (other than breakfast) at restaurants. Pack a picnic, make a dinner, enjoy a happy hour… make yourself at home. The bar-b-que is also available for those who wish to grill.
In addition to the B&B rooms on the ground level, Two Eagles also offers a family-size guest suite that has a full kitchen and private balcony. All rooms at Two Eagles offer breathtaking sunrises over Denman Island and beautiful panoramic views of Baynes Sound and the Salish Sea (Georgia Strait) to the north.
Carolyn’s homemade breakfast is usually served between 8:30 and 9. In the summer, breakfast is served on the front patio so you can start the day dining outdoors. In the winter, the dining room keeps you warm while you enjoy the view through the wall of French doors.
Thanks to the laying hens at Two Eagles, many breakfasts feature their just-collected, farm-fresh eggs prepared in a variety of ways. (And, if you’re not flying, take a dozen with you.)
Kids Love to Help
Carolyn collects fresh eggs daily and she likes to have a helper. She would love to show you and your children her hens and where eggs come from.
She also gets great reviews for her French Toast Casserole and Peach Pancakes.
Carolyn is happy to accommodate special diets, so please let her know when you reserve your stay.
Over breakfast, Carolyn is happy to help you plan your day’s activities–providing recommendations for things to do and places to see, including many of their own special spots they’ve discovered since moving to the island. Carolyn is happy to make reservations or calls for more information—just ask.
For guests who have an early reservation or ferry to catch, Carolyn is happy to make a “to go” breakfast—from her famous “French Toast” casserole that is great hot or cold to fruit, yogurt, and granola bars. Just talk to her about your schedule.
Spread Out
Two Eagles is situated on a 12-acre hobby farm, which gives guests plenty of room to spread out.
The outdoor fire pit invites guests to an evening visit. Steve loved asking guests when they last roasted marshmallows, and then offerd the bag of puffy treats and sticks for a trip down memory lane. Count on great conversation with new friends, lots of laughs, and the fun of seeing cruise ships pass in the distance.
After a day of touring or playing, guests may soak in the outdoor hot tub–enjoying the beautiful waterfront view during daytime soaks. For nighttime soaks, the stars will amaze you. The sky sparkles and “shooting stars” are a common thrill.
